People were feeling the effects of 4 years of Republican leadership and voted out the incumbent. After 4 more years passed with no more money in their pockets they voted out the incumbent again.

Look at the voter turnout. What you are saying is not what happened. Trump didn’t significantly lose votes in 2020, but the Democrats did. Then in 2024 democrat voting numbers went down again.
