For a while now. More Hollywood movies are made in London than Los Angeles, and NZ and Central Europe have cashed in too.

The past decade of Hollywood films costing $250m+, by main production country:

UK: Star Wars VII, VIII, IX, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, Fast X, Avengers Ultron, Dr Strange Multiverse, Ant Man Quantumania, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, The Marvels, Justice League, MI: Dead Reckoning, Solo, Snow White, Jurassic World Dominion, Eternals, No Time to Die, Gladiator 2, Beauty and the Beast

US: Avengers Endgame, Avengers Infinity War, The Electric State, Batman v Superman, Furious 7, Fate of the Furious, The Lion King, Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 3

Note that none of the US-based productions listed were based in Los Angeles.

      Australia: Thor Love & Thunder

      NZ: Avatar 2

What defines a foreign made movie. If the movie has CGI, then it most likely has had a portion of the work done over seas.

Same with most animation, as well. Typically, American cartoons will only be storyboarded/keyframed in the US, while an overseas studio handles the other 95%.

Parents: This will kill Paw Patrol, or Bluey, or whatever it is your kids are watching these days.

Bluey is primarily owned by the BBC, so it could come under UK tariffs instead, which may be higher or lower depending on how much Trump wants to fuck US studios.

Depends. Judging by the articles I’ve read on the subject they’d be exempt due to being TV shows and not movies. But who knows with Trump?

Most films will have an official certificate of country of origin as part of bilateral or multilateral coproduction treaties, or tax incentive schemes. That will define the primary country of origin of a film.

So far the excuse he’s been using to end run Congress is that it’s a national emergency. I suppose Hollywood profits are also an emergency?

What am I ever doing expecting consistency from this guy? That’s just asking for frustration.
