That’s why I was asking questions. Found, presumed etc. Did they not follow back up or was the guy dead for a while in that 5 week period or was he not experiencing rabies symptoms? Was rabies aquired after he died?

Nope. Especially if there were no other symptoms associated with the victim’s passing.
