“Who cares?” is a callous and counterproductive response. The children who died did not choose not to get vaccinated. The children who are currently at risk did not choose not to get vaccinated.
Obviously you can’t fix stupid, but the government and public health organizations need to do a better job educating the masses about the efficacy and safety of the measles vaccine. Put out ads comparing the risks of measles vs the risks of vaccination, explaining how exactly the vaccine works, explaining the safety data for the inactive ingredients.
If random Indian spammers can afford to flood YouTube and Instagram with AI-generated advertisements, surely the CDC, NIH, WHO, UPMC, Mayo Clinic, etc can pool their resources to find a campaign to educate the vaccine skeptics. I have literally never seen any PSA or advertisement explaining the vaccine anywhere. Instead of dismissing and deriding skeptics, make an effort to convince them they at the vaccine is safe and effective.
