Yeah, Im pretty bad at writing bios lol, but if you want to talk to me, just message me!
Maybe because your community only allowed Mandarin? There can also be a community-wide scope that only allow certain languages, so if the community you post in mandarin-speaking only, that’s why you might not have needed to select anything.
Yes, it’s exactly that, I explained it in another reply
I also agree it should behave like that by default but I’m not really familiar with Lemmy’s front-end codebase to be able to do this myself, so I do what I can!
If you regularly post in multiple languages, you have to select them all in your user settings.
However, having multiple languages selected will always display the same language list in the same order, even if you don’t post in that language.
For example, I post mostly in french but sometimes in english as well. Well, the lemmy front-end always puts english at the start of the list so every time I post in french, I need to re-select it which is kind of annoying. This add-on does it for you!
Strange, I’ve had a video that crashed newpipe every time but now it seems to play fine. Maybe because it was a “Coming soon” video? Anyways it seems like it works fine now, I also had a bug where leaving the app would crash the app instead of doing background play but I also can’t get it to occur again. I’ll edit my original comment.
Well, thanks for sharing! The more options the better!
For everyone on Android, you can just patch the youtube app using ReVanced, which will remove ads, add sponsorblock, allow you to hide shorts and the “People also watched” sections. It can be pretty tricky to patch if you don’t know what you’re doing so feel free to tell me if you run into any issues.
If you don’t care about the algorithm and your feed, you can get the third-party client NewPipe, it’s FOSS but sometimes crashes while reading some videos It does not seem to crash anymore, so good thing!
Pick one!
Besides Funkwhale, I’m not sure there is anything else at the moment (someone please correct me if I’m wrong)
There are radios on Funkwhale, but these are just a random playlist of songs from a set list (like “Piano radio” for example)
Peertube has a livestreaming function that could be used as a radio closer to the actual sense of the word (with someone animating it), but it would take a lot of effort and I haven’t found any radio channels on Peertube. If you have a great idea, go for it and it might take off! 🎉
I’m out of the loop, what’s the wayland backend?
Well, Google takes 15 to 30% off the in-app purchases made through Google Play, so you would probably be giving back Google their own money anyways, plus it would fool many people who might think they’re giving 10€ when actually they’re only giving 8,50€ or 7€ to Wikipedia and the rest to Google.
