  • this is the part that really baffles me, though I guess I can’t expect much from the class that seems to be literally incapable of foresight.

Like say AI actually does get there. Some company is able to crack human consciousness and we get truly intelligent AI, good enough to replace your workforce with… that AI isn’t going to be free. It’s going to be a monthly fee for your business. and then when you’re fully reliant on AI, when skilled labor is simply too difficult to cultivate any further, it’s going to inevitably enshittify. These corpos will end up slaves to the AI company.

It’s like they fundamentally cannot see that they are giving up control. They’re so fucking stupid.

Yeah, it’s a hot new thing so it’s definitely getting overprescribed. I got diagnosed with it after some intermittent vomiting with lots of nausea. After the symptoms still persisted after six months without smoking any, they started to take me a little more seriously. I’ve also known friends who’ve had issues misdiagnosed.

At this point, it seems like if you’ve smoken marijuana and have any stomach issue, they’ll say it’s CHS

I would make the argument that our species resorting to violent conflict over shareable resources is a pretty damning indictment of human nature.

Tribalism exists, it’s a scientific fact. You can overcome the biases it imposes through cognitive effort, but at a baseline we are predisposed to hate anyone who we believe “doesn’t belong.” That’s not inherently evil, but it is asshole behavior.

Well no, what’s happening to you is also because of the general culture of overmedication. If there were less false positives, people wouldn’t distrust your diagnosis. If anything, I’d argue the current culture hurts the people who have serious issues more than the people who have been given a shoddy diagnosis in order to peddle drugs, but both sides are pretty rough.

One of my friends actually does this as a side-gig. She’s a very experienced DM for many different game systems, and I’d say consistently offers a great experience. She mostly gets hired to do events though, like running tables for MagicCon or the local queer tabletop society. I’ve never personally heard of someone like posting up at a lgs and offering to DM for strangers in exchange for money, but sounds fine to me. DMing is a lot of hard work, there’s absolutely no incentive to be good at it for strangers, and demand for super casual but professionally led tabletop experiences seems to be at an all time high. You’re still allowed to do things the traditional way and have a friend DM for your group, this is just an option for the tourists who want to spend an afternoon together having a TTRPG experience.
