It’s memes like this that make me realize I’m a bit older than the average Lemmy user.

Pacific Rim came out in 2013, only 13 years ago.

Work computer: 52 across 3 browsers, with 4 total ‘tab groups’

Home computer: 22 with 1 browser and 3 ‘tab groups’

Phone: 0 (unless the new tab page counts that opens when I open my browser)

is mostly destroyed except the head.

Sounds like me in my late thirties

While there is no difference in performance between the PCIe NVMe SSDs, you can see that having a PCIe SSD can give you a large boost in the 1% lows compared to a SATA SSD. We see a 39% increase in 1% lows at 4K, a 51% increase at 1440p, and a 22% increase at 1080p.

The higher peak and average bandwidth used by the PCIe drives resulted in higher 1% lows in this game, which makes for a smoother gameplay experience.

Damn, that was really powerful. Thanks for sharing this!

…I said goodbye to him as he lie there, braindead.

It took a slow transition for me, but then one day I didn’t have any more animal products in my home (as food, I didn’t throw out wool socks, etc.)

Why pay for cruelty?

Fourteen

I saw pictures of the park online and the trees were so beautiful and green. Colorful flowers everywhere. Came here with my partner on Valentine’s day and it was all dead. Wtf happened? 2 stars. Nice benches though.

What? The agreement he made after blowing up NAFTA?

Wtf dude

I had these very strong thoughts as well. Thankfully my concern that others might get injured in the fallout overrode it.

First, if you’re actually curious, I recommend perusing this community and reading a lot.

I’ll do a short, non-exhaustive list that I will try to not turn into a rant.

Generative AI, LLMs, specifically is what I’ll be referring to. Not things like image recognition or OCR.

• All LLMs today are inherently using stolen data.
• AI hyperscale data centers are ruining our environment
• • water
• • air
• • especially in communities that are already underserved
• I want to spend what precious little time I have speaking and interacting with other Humans, not arguing with robots or even “Being more productive.”
• huge cybersecurity concerns
• Something something economy, but this is tied with my humans point. If we’re improving the economy by automating shit, while many are not getting the basic necessities of life, that’s an issue.

An appeal to futility isn’t helpful though. We can still have an impact, especially when movements grow.

Kinsey was awful, but almost every episode he was in was excellent!

Did you like Antimemetics Division? I saw the Short video with Jasika Nicole (Astrid from Fringe), and it felt like a mix between bad sci fi that took itself too seriously and a dumb joke.

I should have fought
