  • So I also agree that monarchs are pretty stupid. I don’t think the guy is perfect. But at the same time, if you happened to be born with a name/family that got you media attention, wouldn’t you want to use it to better the world? I don’t know much about this guy in particular, so it’s quite possible he is bad in other ways. But the way I see it’s not different than a kardashian raising awareness for something good. Should there opinion matter more than other people? No. Do i not fully understand the physiology of the people that watch celebrities lives with rapture? Yes. But are the people inherently bad? No.

  • Hmm well I can’t speak for Europe, but plenty of chill people to go hiking with in the US, plus it might not be the most challenging stuff maybe but I’ve hiked out of the grand canyon with my friends 70 yo grandma so if you want the social aspect you can still do challenging things just maybe go a little slower. Also again don’t know about Europe but there are like five weekly board game meetups in my decent sized city.

  • Well what defines going out? There are plenty of board game meet ups, even if you don’t especially like board games I would posit that it’s not an objectively negative experience; so if you must hold you nose and go anyway, do so.

Secondly, although this is coming from my experience in America, so your millage may vary, there’s tons of outdoor activities and groups: go for a hike, go backpacking.

You don’t need special equipment, you don’t need to buy anything. Just a water bottle, backpack, tent/tarp, and some non perishable foods and you’re good to go.

It’s true that the convenient third places of yesterday have seemingly vanished; but people are still out there.

  • Honestly so happy I’m married, I’m sorry for all of y’all. Dystopian times.

But hey to add my two cents: I think that fear is marketable, so women are over fed on paranoia.

At the same time, porn and propaganda have put bad expectations in some percentile of dumb men.

Both sexes are generally out of social practice, and societal trust is at an all time low. Most people are nice, but most people are also awkward.

So get out there and meet some people, don’t even do so romantically, just go learn how to interact with people, form some friendships.

  • All depends on the climate your in, and the insulation of your house. You can build houses which don’t need AC even in hot places by going underground or making earth ships. Yet with traditional construction and insulation in many places AC is almost required. Pretty efficient anyway, just a heat pump.

  • Yeah that’s what I was thinking. That they were using stalls to do makeup. I supposed I can chock this up to my application of Mens public restroom culture (in the USA) where you try not to make eye contact and avoid one another. This led me to think that crowding around the mirror would be an uncomfortable experience for everyone involved. Hence, the stall being a more private place would be more comfortable with a pocket mirror or something but hey live and learn lmao

  • I think this might be a potential disconnected between rural and urban folks. A lot of trucks are big and stupid; and unsafe. But an old style reasonable pick up doesn’t need a CDL. It’s very useful for moving things that you don’t want to mess up your interior. During the summer my family takes one with a small motorcycle and inflatable kayaks to raft rivers in Colorado; quite useful. But I get it in the cities; even our reasonable sized sedan felt big having the parallel park when I’ve visited them.

  • I dunno I was a teenager last decade; sure people got anxious when there were the drills, but mostly people are desensitized to it.

It’s sorta like hearing about a fire in a far off place, or an earthquake, it could happen here, and that would be scary, and you feel bad, but at the end of the day if you let yourself worry about it you would just be in a constant state of panic.

So you talk a bit about legislation afterward and then go back to worrying about finding a job that pays a living wage. Since that economic catastrophe is not, as in the former case, a matter of statistical bad luck but an approaching inevitability.
