There are in fact petrol shortages, especially in southern Russia and the prices have spiked also, so it’s not completely “unaffected”

It still looks like this to this day, you can find it in any grocery store

Check the civilian casualties in Iraq war and report back
“Did king Arthur come a lot?”
Being not familiar with Mexican culture, I thought the joke was about the fifith of whisky
There are many people who think the Soviet Union did just the same (ask the Baltics). This is all about picking sides again, not looking at the root of the problem. If you believe US propaganda, China is much worse than the US, with facts to prove (not saying they’re correct or justified). Saying stuff like “your nation is the plague of the world” is just repeating the same fascist logic
Now, this is just silly. I’d think the US have capability to destroy a school in one strike if they wanted to. What you’re saying is the US specifically have to strike twice, because they don’t have a means to reduce a civilian building to rubble. And what’s the point, anyway? Now with all the whiplash, they couldn’t predict this beforehand? Or, if it was intentional, they would have a specific goal in mind?
I’m as much outraged as you are, don’t get me wrong. I just think it was a terrible mistake on the US part on par with starting this conflict all together
As much as I appreciate this community, I wish there was more thoughtful discussion than this. As much as I agree with you, I’d hope there was a follow up with a deeper look at the problem. The US are doing this not because of an innate evilness, but because they can. They have the money and the mass media coverage to justify their deeds. Every country (or every leader) is protecting their interests in the way they see fit. If Iran was a superpower (whose leader thought they were invincible), they would do the same.

You also mentioned Finland and hinted that it’s culturally very different to Russia. You also said Finland is close to Norway and Russia has nothing in common with Norway. I’m discussing the general idea you expressed, even if not a direct quote from you, I hope you can understand

I’ve been to Finland and I never felt alien there. Of course, it’s a bit different, but “nothing in common” is a bit of an overstretch to me

It’s an expat thing. People moving from their country usually have more negative connotations about it and are more likely fo justify their choice by joining the negative propaganda. I’ve seen people moving to my country praise things that they thought were great and different from their previous experience, but having lived here all my life I know it’s not that simple. So, don’t believe everything an expat is telling you, that’s what I mean
I know it’s a running gag on the internet but I unironically think there’s someone who actually does this
Orthodoxy is part of christianity. It’s the same belief, just in a different wrapper

I’m on the counsil that oversees your mom’s sexual adventures

Who good?
Russian propaganda doesn’t even know Lemmy exists and couldn’t give two shits about it
Yes, your body doesn’t have a means to break down water and extract energy from it

Woosh
I’m telling you my first hand experience in central Russia. There are clearly fuel shortages today, with multiple gas stations I went through having no fuel, or having exuberant prices. I think it’s short term also partly because of the media coverage and people buying fuel in advance. In Crimea there were reports of a kilometre queues of people waiting at gas stations to refuel. And they had to introduce quotas of 30 liter per person maximum
