  • Yeah, the modern society teaches us that if we have any problems, be it health, financial or anything else, it’s all fixable and we are supposed to fix it. Yet there is so much we don’t have control over. Mental health problems are especially hard to tackle, as there are so few options, they are expensive, time consuming and often don’t really help.

  • That’s what my partner used to say to me before he got the diagnosis. It sounded as if he never had any thoughts in his head. It put a strain on our relationship too, because he used to answer this those times I noticed he wasn’t listening while I was talking and asked what he was thinking about. Sometimes it seemed like he didn’t care at all.

Turns out he has too many thoughts in his head, and “nothing” was indeed the easiest answer. I guess it doesn’t really matter what the truth is to a random person, but it does matter to your friends and family.

It’s a study; I imagine they controlled for age and other factors if the article states the study “found”, not “suggested” or similar looser term. It’s not an opinion, but a result of a scientific process. Your dislike for term “gamer fact”, even if it’s a bit cringe, doesn’t change that.

  • As the other commenter said, the bottles actually get recycled; if they weren’t they wouldn’t have a system where they pay for the return. And it doesn’t make sense to count it as “pay”, as in compare to a normal job pay, cause it’s not. Dude is walking around and cleaning the environment, gets free PS5 out of it.

  • Just a simple example I googled:

    • Sit in a quiet, comfortable place.
    • Set a short time limit if you’re a beginner (e.g., 5–10 minutes).
    • Focus on your breath and notice bodily sensations.
    • Gently return your focus to your breath when distractions occur.

With body sensations, you can focus on the taste in your mouth for a minute, then switch to sounds you hear, how your fingertips feel etc. I usually close my eyes to better focus on each sensation. Just relax and gently observe what you experience right now.

  • These are some of the most common problems people seek therapy for, and there are several methods therapists teach to address these, such as meditation and mindfulness. It takes practice, but they have a lot of potential to help with intrusive, snowballing thoughts. You can practice anytime and mostly anywhere, but doing it is the hard part.
