I banned Stamets a couple times over the last year for posting an anti-trans meme and a different instance of not tagging NSFW. Stamets is a repeat offender, hence the ban from Moss. Banning people for not tagging NSFW is in the stated rules. Repeat offenders are held to a higher standard. The “trolling” tag was because they plainly refused to tag the post.

I keep seeing comments like this about none of us having local accounts. My account is local??? I was one of the first mods brought on by Moss, so I’m not sure where this came from. I had a shitjustworks account at first, but I switched over almost immediately so maybe that was it? Our reports counter is consistently at 0.

I don’t know that we ever remove comments for “not contributing to the discussion” unless I’m just not seeing it. Ironically, our concern about some of Ada’s bans had to do with her saying that they were “participating in bad faith” which is why we asked for a more specific rules from her.
Not defending our recently actions as a group, just curious if anyone was actually banning for “not contributing to discussion” or if it was more of a random example.

Bleys is right, the community should’ve been in the loop earlier. We were (ironically) worried about potentially upsetting Ada and we just kept making the wrong decisions. Obviously, the move without a (at the bare minimum) heads up was the wrong one.
I have a local account and (from my POV) anytime we got the “reports are piling up” message it was maybe 3 reports that were less than 12 hours old. We never had reports older than 2 days at least since I started helping August 7th, 2023. I check everyday, if I wanted another mod’s opinion of a report I left it up while I waited for a response but we never just ignored the reports. I’m not sure where “the best we got were mods with alt accounts that get checked every couple of days, leaving me to deal with the build up of reports on 196. Sometimes they would hang around there for days while I waited for a 196 mod to log in and look at them” is coming from. I was one of the first mods brought on Aug 2023, so if this is older than a year and half I’m not sure why it’s being brought up? I’m not trying to argue with you, I appreciate everything you’ve done to help the community; I’m just confused

Random personal share but I try not to share Family Guy videos. There was a huge wave of Andrew Tate fans clipping Family Guy to generate revenue based on Tate’s “real world” suggestions. I don’t share cause it ends up going back and funding Tate.

We have an email people can reach out to. We all have access to it so we can keep each other accountable. If anyone feels that they’ve been unfairly banned, they can reach out to the email and a mod unrelated to the ban will address it. We’ve let go of a mod in the past for unfairly banning people, it’s not like we’re going to defend each other for no reason. We’re a team, sure, but my justice-flavored autism isn’t going to hold that relationship over doing the right thing.
