I’ve seen ADL referenced way too many times as a legitimate source of information. That’s gonna stick with me for a long while.

ABSOLUTELY! I do want to clarify that when I say that I question how severe it is, I don’t mean to minimalize it.
ADL has pretty consistently exaggerated numbers. So when I see 4000% increase, I don’t believe it. They absolutely include Israeli government criticisms.
But I do expect that there’s extreme increases, in the same way there has been increases in Islamophobia. Probably more. The incidents are real and cannot be ignored.
I just do not trust what the news is putting out when it relies on subjective information or an outside source. This has honestly been the sloppiest news I’ve witnessed in my life.
I’ve seen a lot of reporting on antisemitism increasing. And I’m sure it is. But shit like this and the fact that I’ve seen ADL referenced twice now makes me really question how severe it is.
So do I. Why? Because I can.
The OP clearly crossed from “acceptable” civilian casualties to actively rooting for civilian casualties. In this case the mods would be justified blocking them.
But I’m also happy to see that overall they’re not voted up.
Thanks. Yeah, World News is just News. So I was a bit confused. I assume they were talking about the evacuation post. It looks like the OP is making a lot of inflammatory comments there and in other posts. But most of them aren’t voted on and not very visible.
I think the issue might be wanting the mods to weed out some of these types. At one point they’re even warmongering a bit. But the rest of the conversation seems overall fine.
Which post? There’s the evacuation one on c/news on Beehaw which got a bit heated. It has a couple of bad faith comments by the OP. But even then most of the discussion seems to be good faith, even when they’re strongly disagreeing.
I don’t see a world news community on Beehaw. Just news and USnews. Do you mind sharing the post or the community+server?
(Also for the record, I use Connect. But I don’t know if it makes a difference.)
I think most longer discussions are like that regardless. But most conversations that I have seen have been short and informative. Especially now that people have been able to process a bit.
No, I think the response has been very level headed conversation actually. There’s been a lot of focus on Israel simply because of the absolute support they initially got. But I think the discussions have been productive.
“Don’t underestimate his ability to play spoiler to one of them.”
I think we know which one he’d play spoiler to. Moderate Republicans know how to hold their nose because they’re supposed to. Democrats don’t have that strong of identity politics. It’s much easier for them to be convinced to not vote Dem.
This is especially true for the swing states that are going to determine who actually wins the presidency.
If Dems are oranges and Reps are literal shit. He’d be like a freshly picked mushroom.
It’s gonna taste like shit, it might kill you, but I guess you could say it’s closer to an orange than literal shit, debatably.
Not just anti-vaxx, but also antisemitic conspiracies.
Caring for the people? Sounds like woke radical leftist Marxist propaganda (actual shit I hear on a daily basis).
The Republican party could stop trying to hurt people at any moment. Hell, I’m in a red state and our last Republican governor wasn’t too bad. But it’s all just hate now. And anyone who opposes that hate gets more hate from people like you.
I know. I’m saying the GOP would actually defend his actions and say there’s nothing wrong with it, because that’s what they do.
I understand not wanting to hurt the American people. But Democrats aren’t going to just pretend it’s fine either.
They would absolutely be calling the whole thing a sham.
I understand not wanting to give up power by ousting them in purple areas, for both parties. People’s lives and the trajectory of the country is dependent on which party is in charge, unfortunately. Which is sad in itself.
They were asked to write their personal experience with him. And that’s what they did. I didn’t see anything defending his actions or condemning the charges.
I don’t even have to actively boycott. I just feel weird watching Scientologists leading movies and shows. I find it odd that people can get excited to go watch Tom Cruise in a movie.
Honestly, I wouldn’t even say the second part about conservatives. In my experience, most centrists agree with Democrats on most issues. But Republicans try their hardest to make politics a mudslinging contest so centrists become disinterested. That evens the playing field.
All that to say yes, I agree with you that they are uninformed. And it’s caused by the most vile of the Republicans because they can’t compete if centrists stayed engaged.
The plane was taken outside of the environment.
Can you explain what you mean by this? I assume you mean people forced to stay home by the federal government.
