No it is not their main money generator. Their personal computing segment of the company which includes Windows, Xbox, Bing and surface is less than 15B in revenue compared with 100B for Azure. So windows is literally a single digit percentage of their revenue.

Novels were mocked as being foolish, books themselves were mocked when they replaced tablets, i mean it goes on and on. And you’re right that abilities may atrophy. Do people have poorer handwriting now? Yes. Does it matter at all? Not really. I think you’re wrong though about memory atrophying. I have been using computers and cell phones since I was a child, and I have excellent memory. Regarding navigation via phone - Can I conduct orienteering with a map? No. Does it matter at all? Not really.
Right now I’m just using it for an AirGradient dashboard, which is an open hardware / open software air quality monitor. I used claude to rewrite the firmware to send the data to prometheus instead if their own servers, and countless other frustrating changes because they make the whole operation dependent on a connection to their servers…anyway, I didn’t want to pay a subscription for something so simple. I’ve thought about using it for some other projects, but for a lot of stuff I just don’t see the need for a dedicated dash.
