Alas, I worry I do.

Recently started shopping at a small/local chain grocer. Their produce prices are comparable to Safeway and the other large chain grocery stores in my area, but their sales are much worse and are generally only on much lower quality products.

I’m doing this out of the probably misplaced notion that its helping to support smaller business and thus keeping the profits more localized. But I worry that I’m just fooling myself with it all.

Def don’t let any aspirants of my habits shame you for taking care of your own budget first.

Part of me wants to be like “Nick Fuentes isn’t representative of the cultural zeitgeist” (I - a het white guy - have heard the name but know nothing about the guy)…but wow. I believe the technical term is that thats “pretty fucked up”.

Trying to read this in as good of faith as possible (so as to better understand what they think they’re saying), it seems like they’re saying “I see your body is unattractive and wouldnt try to get with you anyway”, but thats obviously not something you’d say to another person? Unless, like the woman was coming on to the man? I guess?

Am i totally missing the mark on the intent / would there be another meaning for this to actually be said to another person?

Like, are they implying Biden should call a hit on Trump? Should he just not cede the presidency? These are things the typical Lemmy user (as I’ve seen at least) would RAGE against under any other circumstances, so I’m inclined to assume thats not the case. But if not that, then what?

I think its great to be reading the amount of “in hindsight, screwing over Bernie Sanders over the last decade was probably a mistake” (mostly seeing this in the centrist/slightly liberal circles I inhabit)

It still feels dirty, but when is war and geopolitics ever actually clean? I feel a lot more heartened that this was the right choice after reading your response.

I understand the sanctions part and wanting to head off any potential state interference with projects like this, but “infosec reasons” feels very hand wavy.

I think I’d be a lot more comfortable if we had seen malicious/bad faith actions/communications or maybe some more specific and tangible reasons to suspect them being compromised on the part of the Russian maintainers before they were just removed.
