I have a lot of mental health challenges and a severe sleep disorder that results in a lot of isolation. I’m kinda thinking when I’m in the right financial place for it, a dog might really help with the isolation.

I’m curious what you mean by unreliable. I assume you’re referring to them being difficult to direct since from what I hear they’re not very biddable and are pretty independent in their decision making 😅

Borderlands. Couch co-op with my brother was pretty much what videogames was to me as a kid, and borderlands was always our favorite. I can’t wait to have a platform I can play borderlands 3 and the tiny Tina game on with him over the Christmases when hes back in town (I know they’re not quite as good, thats perfectly okay)

These days, hollow knight is also genuinely very special to me. I don’t think there’s any game I hold in the same kind of place of reverence

I agree with the other commenter, your question is more likely to be seen by enough people for you to get helpful answers if you post it separately (especially since lemmy is small and the coffee community is a very small subset of that) but thats a great question and I’d be curious to see folks’ recommendations if you do end up making a post about it :)

Semicolons, dashes, commas, and colons are all great for breaking up and organizing words without implying to total pause that a period would. I find them perhaps especially useful since I write like I speak, making conveying cadence or pauses to break up run-on sentences particularly important for clarity

I don’t really ever hear anyone else talk about it either. I’m guessing it was picked by my teacher and wasn’t a common book to read in school. Ms. Hoke was wonderful. I’m white but went to magnet schools so I was surrounded by folks of all different races and financial backgrounds as a kid, and that book was probably my first introduction to the idea that some folks treat others differently for the color of their skin
