We live in capitalist countries. Anything and everything will have money involved. Even public healthcare involves money changing hands with private contractors and such. There is no way to get around this fact. And wherever money changes hands it creates the potential for perverse incentives that we are possibly opening the door wide open for.
In this case, corporations oppose MAID because sick and dying people need a lot of very expensive health care (skilled nursing, hospice care, etc) so they would much rather force them to stay alive in order to continue profiting off them.
True, the Roman Empire fell and the United States could fall too. Humanity didn’t end though, it went through periods of enlightenment and darkness and kept marching forward.

There’s only a few billion dollars of Bitcoin on offer at any given point so dumping another few billion into the market all at once would cause an enormous swing in price. The market may absorb it quickly enough for the price to recover, but it could also trigger panic selling which lowers the price further, which causes more panic selling… and voila there’s your run. It wouldn’t destroy Bitcoin, but the price could take a very long time to recover if it does at all.

The responsibility is shared. Temu wouldn’t exist if nobody bought from them. Yes, people need clothes, but nobody is forced to buy them from a fast fashion company that is generating enormous amounts of waste. 🤷
Well from personal experience with a small website the biggest things you have to deal with are web crawlers trying to vacuum up every last ounce of data they can find and web crawlers trying to find obvious backdoors like trying default WordPress logins (even if you’re not running WordPress). Make sure your software is properly configured and up to date and you’re safe. Some isolation is still a good idea but don’t lose sleep on which one because they’re all still overkill in this case.
On the other hand if you’re running a service that would be actively targeted by a large government enforcement agency or some other very wealthy and highly motivated entity, then complete physical isolation would be the only acceptable answer but with even more protocols to prevent contamination or identification as there have been attacks demonstrated that could infiltrate even air-gapped environments and that’s assuming you could hide it well enough for them not to just come physically compromise it (without you even knowing).
Keep in mind if you want to use any of these technologies because you want to learn them or just think they’re neat, then please do! I suspect a lot of people with these types of home setups are doing it mostly for that reason and not because it is absolutely necessary for security purposes.
