It’s because the “AI bad” crowd on Lemmy are dumb and annoying, but they are vocal. AI is an incredibly useful tool. As a senior dev I also use the shit out of LLMs to speed up my work. They do not hallucinate, at least during coding sessions. And I believe they will take junior level front end developers out of the market. Senior developers, who know how to review the code that is generated, will be safe.

I didn’t get Internet until 2011 or so in the home. Then it was dial up for another few years. There was no other options where we lived since it was in the country.

I believe Android Studio is built on top of IntelliJ IDE which uses Java, so no Electron. That being said, Java applications are generally RAM heavy as well and Android Studio was always a pig on resources.

Visual Studio Code (not Visual Studio!) is Electron based but I’ve always had good performance with it.

You don’t even need to go that far back. It blows my mind that the 360 and PS3 have 512mb of RAM. Halo 4, GTA 5, and The Last of Us did some impressive graphics work with 512mb.
