They need to step up the game on pointing out he is on trial right now and then go all in if he is convicted. If they have been saying it already, then they need to figure out how to say it in a way that gets on the news.

They’re trying to avoid accusations of trying to politicize the trial. I can’t say I disagree. Much better to maintain silence about anything to do with the ongoing trial, and go ham when it’s over.

Decent people taking the high road is why the conservatives keep a stranglehold on power in the US.

It isn’t like conservatives are staying silent about the same topic, why give them more space to fill the public consciousness with lies while waiting for something that is likely to be appealed anyway? Are they going to wait for the appeals to be heard before saying anything?

Oh heavens! That just wouldn’t be proper. In keeping with decorum they must wait an appropriate amount of time out of respect. Surely the American people will understand who is truly the more ethical choice.

The difference between good and evil is that good follows rules and evil doesn’t. And the fascists are always going to spread lies, whether there’s a trial going on or not. Making remarks about or adjacent to the trial while the trial is going on just gives them one more thing to lie about.

What rules would be violated by focusing on Trump being on trial?

Why aren’t those rules being enforced when conservatives ramble on endlessly about the trial being a sham?

Staying silent is giving them more room to lie, because they are already lying constantly about the court proceedings. Saying something isn’t going to lead to them more lying.

I think related to trials, Jon Stewart, Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel and others are far more effective than Biden ever would be in his campaign ads.

The thing is that being a former president with 91 felony charges is quite pathetic.

      If he is convicted

I find it hilarious that people still believe there’s a rule of law while the US is a full blown corporatocracy masquarading as a democracy. Trump will never see the inside of a jail cell, or face any justice beyond financial (yet never enough to lose a life of luxury). Laws are for the commoners.

It is possible that he could be convicted in at least one case.

If he is convicted, it is guaranteed that he will never spend a day in jail because he is wealthy enough to have the appeals process drag out his incarceration indefinitely.

If he is convicted it is possible that the Republicans will distance themselves from him, but that would depend on how invested his base is on whether his trials are actually shams if a jury votes to convict.

If convicted he would (plebs would anyway) start serving his time while his appeals process works its way to be heard by the appellate court. And if he does time at all, he would probably be out before his case made it for review, which would then only serve to strike the felony/felonies conviction(s) from his record (if he wins of course).

They’re focusing on the wrong things. Trump’s supporters DGAF that he’s on trial. They just say it’s the deep state/Soros/Biden/whatever trying to stop Trump.

Hit the campaign trail and talk to the people face to face. Not from a stage reading a teleprompter. Yeah you’ll have some yelling at Biden and angry but the majority just want to be heard. Then have Biden admin take all the grievances and create a plan to fix them. No excuses about “the Republicans are too strong, sorry” crap.
