dang I guess I just assumed she must’ve already been from the most shithead district available, crazy to think there’s (edit: possibly) an even worse place than the one she got elected from to start with

Her current district was +9 Republican. The one she’s moving to is +27 Republican. What a coward.

It is. Her current district is +9 gop, and she only won it by 500 votes last time. Her dem challenger raised millions for the upcoming election already, while she had record bad fund raising.

This one district shes shifting to is +27 GOP, so she will likely win if she isn’t primaried.

Colorado went through a round of redistricting, so her old seat lost a bunch of the baked-in far-right evangelical base that she’d enjoyed up till now. She only held her CO-3 seat by 1% of the vote, so she’s DOA going into 2024 with the new district lines and population changes.

By contrast, CO-4 is a comically lopsided 63/30 Republican district. She can camp out there indefinitely if she wins her primary.

Why is the far-right evangelical base supporting a woman who performs sex acts in public?

I guess that’s less of a threat to their children than someone using a closed toilet stall in the same room as someone born with different genitals.

In the state that gave us Ted Haggard, Paul Barnes, and Gary Hart?

Those are two different things. Are we mad at her because she was caught in a night-vision security camera placing her hand on a crotch?

Mhe. I think they should also be allowed to behave like everyone else.

I’m sure there are other reasons to dislike her, this one is just dumb. “Oh no, she has a personal life and likes sex”.

Let’s not forget the rest of this story–they kicked her out like they would anyone else, and SHE made a big deal about “do you know who I am?” etc etc. Anybody else would have been kicked out for being obnoxious like that–vaping, being loud and obnoxious even after being warned mote than once. But she couldn’t accept that.

My take on this is that it’s not the hand on the crotch moment that has people disliking her. It’s her telling the rest of us that we’re evil and going to hell for liking sex, telling those of us who happen to like non-standard sexual pairings (man-man, woman-woman, non-standard genders, etc) we’re evil, and trying to force us to have unwanted babies because we wanted to have sex that rubs us the wrong way, and doubly so because she got caught forcing a whole theatre of people to participate in her sexual adventures who were there to see a Beetlejuice movie and not an impromptu and really poorly executed burlesque scene in the audience, followed by a brazen display of entitlement, power-tripping, and privilege. It’s the hypocrisy that gets us, not so much the sex act itself.

It’s weird to me that you think this is average behavior. It might feel normal to you, but I’d be creeped tf out if the couple next to me started doing sexual shit in a theater.

And should we not hold leaders to higher standards? Shouldn’t leaders hold themselves to higher standards?

She’s an adult at the center of performing arts, not a teenager in the back row of a dollar theater. Different standards apply to those 2 situations.
