Collins complained that “everybody ignores” her vote to convict Trump in his second impeachment trial.

“What bigger break could there be?” she asked. “It is never enough.”

While Collins touted her breaks with Trump, she was also a pivotal vote for key parts of his agenda. She provided a decisive vote to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2018, despite sexual assault allegations that he denied. And though she voted against Trump’s Medicaid-cutting “Big Beautiful Bill” on final passage, she was a key vote to advance debate on it.

She absolutely was not the deciding vote. That would have meant 66 other senators voted to remove him from office. The final votes on the 2 counts were 48 and 47 (with Romney voting in favor of removal from office of the abuse of power charge but not the obstruction of Congress charge).

Changing the outcome would have required 20 total Republicans to flip. Collins changing her vote would still have left them 18 votes shy.

None of Trump’s impeachments came close because conviction requires 67 votes in the Senate. His first impeachment only had 1 R vote to convict (Romney) - the total was 48, so they needed 19 more Republicans.

You’re probably thinking of Collins being the deciding Yes vote for Brett Kavanaugh, which she was. Despite claiming that she didn’t want to see Roe v. Wade overturned.

Despite her whines, the reality is Collins only broke with Republicans when she was sure it would make no difference to the vote outcome. She made damn sure to toe the party line the rest of the time.

And she’s wrong, sometimes it is enough: Voters have had enough of Susan Collins.

Exactly, if she could’ve gotten away without voting for Kavanaugh or the Big Beautiful Bill, she would’ve, but the Republicans and Trump needed her vote then, so she gave it to them. A Democrat wouldn’t have gone along with that shit. That’s why she got voted out.

They would have taken away her appointments and she wouldn’t have been able to grift with the appropriations bills and campaign donations. Then she’d have lost her seat earlier when Maine stopped getting its outsized slice.

Or they knew what the FBI had found and straight up blackmailed her. Or she’s just a common republican scumbag. Probably all of the above.

Just write someone a strongly worded letter and furrow your brow. That’s worked for every other scenario for you, right, Suze?

She had zero problems giving Trump 93% of her voting support after voting to impeachment? Tell me that you voted just for appearances, without telling me you voted for just appearances.

she believed he viewed Roe as “settled law” and “settled as a precedent of the court”

You got used and still pushed his policy.

    You’re done.

She didn’t get used. They always made sure there were plenty of yes votes to push through the Trump agenda whenever she said no. She never said no when her vote actually mattered. She was playing her constituents as fools.

Oh, bullshit. Every time she went against Trump it was managed opposition. She only did it when MAGA knew they already had enough votes, and could let her preserve her “independent” image, and keep getting elected. It’s extremely common in any vote, for both sides.

So spare me the whining about your sacrifice. It was all manipulation, and we all know it.

Susan Collins, one of the token senators who was allowed to vote the other way when it almost always made no overall impact.

    Get fucked.

Random breaks here and there don’t count. You need to be consistent. You also don’t get points for voting a certain way when:

    a) It would have passed anyway without your vote

    b) It never had a chance of passing even if you voted for it
