President Donald Trump issued a foreboding proclamation during a speech in Maryland on Tuesday, just hours after he predicted a “Midterm Surprise!” in a Truth Social post.
“Director of the Office of Management and Budget, Russ Vought, who’s fantastic, he’s on a job, we have some big surprises coming up in another few weeks. Right, Russ?” Trump said. “He’s gonna be one of the very important people in the history of our country, in my opinion. He’s got some great things happening.”
Trump did not expand on what these so-called “surprises” would be.
Outside his role in the Trump administration, Vought is the primary architect of Project 2025, the conservative Heritage Foundation’s blueprint for a second Trump term.
While not mentioned specifically by Trump, many critics online speculated that Trump was referring to some sort of plan to interfere in the midterm elections.
“Between this and his ‘midterm surprise,’ the time to prepare for him to try to steal an election is now,” Fox News host Jessica Tarlov wrote on X.
Other commenters suggested that Vought could use his official capacity to interfere with the elections.
“I know nothing about Project 2025”
-Trump, 2024

Not a word of what they said is out of bounds bud. It’s all a very real threat we all face. If you like optimistic sugar-coated feelgood takes, maybe you should avoid discussing American politics.
Yeah, the issue is that it wasn’t an optimistic, sugar-coated, feel-good take, and not that he named a specific target and tiny date range for an attack on Americam soil.
Jesus Christ.
Do you have further information that corroborates this imminent attack? Maybe your own gut feeling is telling you the specific city or the exact date? Please share!
I love how some rando predicts the date and place of a lethal attack with absolutely zero evidence, and you chime in that nothing he said was out of bounds.
Then you double down on irrationality by replying to my comment that could only be characterized as the opposite of sugar-coated, feel-good optimism, and insinuating that I can only accept good news.
What he said isn’t news. What he asserted was mass death, with a date and location - a place where people reading this currently live - without a scrap, a smidge, a whiff of evidence suggesting it’s anything other than a delusion. That’s nuts. So is defending it.
Do you honestly not know what an opinion is?
Look, I’ll make this easier for you so you don’t have to get so upset at others for what they think:
You go ahead and create a community and list in the rules, how everyone should think and what they should say. And then you can require everyone to memorize a list of things you find irritating and off-limits, and then test them on it before they’re ever allowed to post- we will all join it- and promptly never post.
But there, you can have everything exactly as you want it and no one will ever disagree or say things that upset you.
Mkay? Sound fun? Super!
But, bud, you’re pretty upset over what I said. In fact, most of your comments are angry and confrontational. Is that how you feel like you’re making a difference and not just making the world a little worse?
Also, I love that you played the opinion card. That’s what your buddy Trump says when he’s caught asserting something ridiculous and gets called out on it. It’s an opinion! All I said was that something is going to happen and I made it up. It’s just an opinion!
I wonder what the opinion of you is from people who have to deal with you in real life. I wonder if you’re not super popular. I wonder if that’s why you habitually talk down to people on the internet - no accountability, and you get to feel like your opinions are changing things, as you’re blind to the negativity you deposit all around the world as you pretend you’re so much different than the other liars.
Okaybuddy. Gonna block you now.
Cuz I’m right
