Bluesky feeds have either porn, politics or both
I want to like BlueSky but my feeds are either super political or gay. It’s totally fine to have gay shit there but a filter would be neat.
Forget the BS instances argument everyone keeps having.
The question I ask the ATProto folks is this: Explain how, if Bluesky went out of business tomorrow, the network keeps running without disruption.
I know that it can keep working, but unlike the Fediverse, it won’t happen smoothly like if a major instance shuddered and people had to migrate. Bluesky holds the whole thing together in a way that impedes good decentralization.
We need to remove some of the links from the fediverse logo to show all the defederations
What’s the symbol on the left?
Same as the one on the right:

The Fediverse / ActivityPub. The thing Lemmy is part of, where you’re currently in.
Wait where am I? I took a left turn awhile back. Went past some Marxists and Linux users and ended up here.
The tankies she told you not to worry about.
You’re part of a very, very large international polycule.
Hi, it’s the Marxist you saw! o/ waves as you go past by
Ahhh thanks. I’m still very new to all this.
That icon is much more noticeable using the web browser UI, appearing next to every post and every comment (clicking it goes to the home instance where the content came from), though 3rd-party apps substitute that with their own provided experience.
Like iirc Voyager has it upon the app startup but it’s grey not colored like this, and I don’t typically start Voyager from scratch but rather just pop it back up for as long as possible, so that startup screen is rarely visited.
I’ve been using Boost for Lemmy
I hear that was a good one, but never tried it. Maybe I am confusing it with another one (like Connect and/or Sync, though I historically have not cared about 3rd-party apps) but I thought it wasn’t being updated for a long time - yet its last update was just last month so not a worry now (if it ever was)!
Welcome and enjoy!
Thanks!
Fediverse.

Sadly, I think Fedi made the bridge.
Not all of them. Blåhaj excludes all of Threads. I’m not sure about Bluesky or Mastodon, but haven’t seen posts from there yet.
A lot of instances exclude Threads, but I think the bridgy is not built by the Bluesky folks, it’s built by the community.
FALSE
Nobody uses Lemmy for anyone to care to ask
Fedi is also mastodon, and many others
Like I said, nobody gives a shit about the Fediverse
We do!
I’m really sorry but “We” being you and your mum don’t count, that still counts as nobody I’m afraid
And yet here you are, replying
I don’t know what to say, congrats:
✅ you have eyes
@[email protected] You must be a lot of fun at parties!

I’ll have you know I’m very fun at parties 🫥
Oh I’m sure! Nothing gets a lively conversation going like ice cold cynicism and negativity.
We’re here because we believe in the Fediverse as a valid alternative to big tech social media and all right-wing propaganda that results from it. I try to convince people of that, and hopefully this place will slowly grow. That requires looking at the future, and not to dwell on what’s not going perfect right now.
This is factually false.
Provide evidence to show anyone outside of the fediverse is interested in the fediverse and bluesky
Counterpoint: provide evidence that anyone outside of Reddit is interested in Reddit and Twitter. If they were interested they would be using it
They are?
Reddit has over 1 billion monthly active users (MAU).
Twitter (X) has 557 million monthly active users (MAU).
Lemmy world fediverse clusterfuck has like 7 users
Looks like about 10% growth compared to last year (
15,563,000 -> 17,416,000), so not a huge increase, but still something. Though it is extremely hard to count fedi users. This site has a good explanation of the caveats.https://fediview.com/articles/fediverse-in-numbers-mastodon-stats-2026/

This looks like growth to you?
Compared to same time last year; yes.
It’s kind of cool to see the Reddit refugee influxes on the graph like that though. Not everyone will stay, but many did.
