Has me wondering if underground infrastructure is an issue. I see shrubs in pots, which is what eventually happens when people are told to plant trees and they can’t because there’s “too much shit underground.” I’m paraphrasing of course, but that’s the gist of it.

Oh yeah you’re probably absolutely correct. With the proper infrastructure it can probably still be done but that definitely makes it more difficult.

In those kinds of situations other good options are green walls, vine trellises, etc.

With those other good options the building owners are often against. They fear damage to building from roots or plants attaching directly to the facade, although there are many plants where that’s not an issue

Agree, maybe green island w trees where the lanes currently are. (Center of street) And then bike lanes between the island and the sidewalks.

My experience as a Dutchie (making me an expert on anything bike-related of course), for the bikers it is really nice if the bike lanes are in the middle because people don’t tend to notice they step into ‘traffic’ if there is a non-traffic island in the middle.

I agree with the Dutch guy. The trees should be offset to one side, so the the trees don’t obstruct the view as pedestrians and cyclists cross each other in the middle.

Also, this bicycle lane probably doubles as access for fire trucks and ambulances.

Only a clip about the US can simultaneously be meant as a way to show how great it is, and start with two people shouting at each other to fuck off.

What’s the point of the painted crossing if the pedestrians have to give way to the bikes?

I think the bikes qre illegally not yielding to right of way.

Better than cars doing the same though.

Can someone assure me democracy is actually good? All I see is people constantly being against things are clearly good for them…

A democracy needs informed citizens. Poor education and manipulation from politicians makes it easy to fool someone in to voting against their own interests.

most of all media needs to be about truth and authenticity

freedom of speech and anonymity fundamentalists don’t recognise the threat to democracy

equally censorship and doxxing is also bad for democracy

there must be a balance and at the moment it is far too tipped towards liars
