I’m trying to switch to osm exclusively. It’s a little rough without an app (that I can find) that includes details (stops, schedule, eta) on nyc subway and bus lines.

CoMaps is available on F-Droid and it works really well. There are little nuances like search not displaying the suburb for a street address, especially where I live, so it takes a bit of guessing. Overall though, offline, open source, great navigation, zero complaints.

        Edit: fixed typo.

I have bad luck with that in Barcelona as well, and often have to go to Maps or Here We Go.

That said, there’s also overlays for OsmAnd+. The one I have for bike routes is much better than Google.

I believe that there are dedicated apps for transit that are as good as Google / Apple maps. This would require splitting into two apps to replace one, but at least you could move away from the major map apps without losing that very useful functionality for transit.
