Maybe she just didn’t think of it as politics. She believed in education, she believed in literacy, she believed in equality, she believed in gay and transsexual rights, etc… To her that just wasn’t political, it was just the way you were supposed to be. It was just part of being a good person.
You can tell what someone’s politics are but what they consider to be “political”. To some people, others just existing as a woman or some type of minority is a political act.
If you openly say you do politics then your followers expect a response to every thing that’s going on. Being politically active without being overt about it is much more effective imo.
Even though she said she wasn’t a feminist and didn’t “do politics”. Which wasn’t true, of course, but maybe she didn’t realise that.

oh, yeah. I too believe in all those things and I also don’t see them as political -It’s everyone else that makes it political. -Not me, though.
