A collection of drawings with suggestions of how to live in the age of AI.

  • Read slowly.
  • Make ugly things.
  • Don’t believe everything. (With a drawing of a man with a tie saying "the future is here, while a woman is holding a dog that’s pooping while on a lead)
  • Eat together.
  • Get bored. (With a drawing of someone stargazing)
  • Avoid instant replies. (With a drawing of someone playing with a fish in a fish bowl while their phone goes “ting ting ting ting!” on a nearby table
  • Call your grandma/grandpa (A drawing of two people next to each other, have a phone conversation “Where are you?” “Right behind you”
  • Fall in love (A drawing of two people dancing together)
  • Cry every now & then (A drawing of someone lying on the floor, sobbing, while holding a flower and telling it “omg you’re so pretty!”
  • Memorise a poem (A drawing of someone holding a piece of paper, reading “I’m a phenomenally phenomenal woman, that’s me!”)
  • Trust your gut (A drawing of someone who has freed three birds from a cage)
  • Take your time (A drawing of someone working at a desk on a laptop. There is an angry person standing next to them wearing a shirt that says “boss”. The boss says “Can you finish this in the next hour?” the person working says “Nope!” with a smile on their face.)

That’s some wishful thinking for many folks, though. Sure, you can nope about it, and then be nope-ed off your job if it ain’t secure enough. Doesn’t stop me from trying 😅

Depends on which country you’re in, how supportive your union is and how strong your legal workers protections are. You don’t have to say “nope” out loud. When I’m asked something like this, I often say nothing or say “ok” while fully knowing there’s no way it is going to be done on an hour and I’m going to work at my normal pace.

Saying “nope” makes you defiant. Saying at the end of an hour that “the work isn’t done despite my best efforts”, usually can’t be actioned harshly. It’s the same as saying nope in the first instance, just keep that part internal.

I put the alt text in the body, because the alt text field on lemmy forces it all onto one line.

I wish my grandparents were around… It’s is and always will be the biggest loss of my life. Sometimes I will have a moment of pure bliss in remembering them and usually it’s gone in a blink of the eye.

If you have those people in your life, cherish it and make sure to absorb everything so they will live on through you
