    a setback for the company as it seeks to settle thousands of similar cases

    come to similar results then.

      If they have 10,000 lawsuits that result in the same fine, it might actually have an impact on their bottom line.

        Did no one RTFA? The lawsuits have cost them 4.5 billion dollars. Hence the bankruptcy. I would consider that “an impact on their bottom line”. Isn’t this what we want? For them to be punished so much they go out of businesses?
