Canvas 2026 has concluded!

Thank you all for participating, it’s been a blast as always! 💜

Canvas 2026 ran from July 18th @ 4am UTC - July 20th @ 4am UTC

Feedback & Future Events

Hope you enjoyed the event as much as I and the moderators did! If you have any feedback, feature requests, or really anything, drop it in this thread (include any fun event ideas you have as well!)

Canvas Prints ✨

Bringing the Canvas prints back this year, but only for like 2 weeks. Once August 1st rolls around, the shop will close again. (You’ll also be able to buy any previous year’s prints)

https://sc07.shop/

International shipping is a pain, so this year the shop will only let you checkout with an address in the United States. But! if you are wanting to get a print, but are not in the US, fill out this form and I’ll see what I can do :)

Source

Just as always, Canvas is an open source project! If you want to take a peek at the code, report and issue directly to the tracker, or even contribute yourself, the source is available on sc07.dev

You can register either with your Fediverse account, or with an email and password. Unfortunately due to a lot of casino bots, registration is behind an approval queue. Send an email to [email protected] if you’d like to ensure I see it

Timelapses

Not yet available, but they will be posted in the [email protected] Lemmy community, on the @[email protected] Mastodon, and of course on sc07.tv PeerTube

Data

Not yet available, but it will be available soon (I will update this post when it is available)

Tools

Check out Monte’s CanvasStats.com to explore the world of data and numbers for all of the years (he’s also added achievements this year!)

Special Thanks

Thank you to all of the moderators that helped out this year!

As always, thank you so much for participating! Every contribution makes the Canvas what it is 💜💜💜 - grant (https://grants.cafe/@grant / @[email protected])

Didn’t know this was a thing but I appreciate the Germans telling Merz to lick balls.

Every time I come back here, I see this post and misread it as ‘Thanks for ruining it :)’ and it makes me momentarily angry until I realize what you actually said. So, thanks for that. :)

Is it just me or is the picture missing the last few minutes?

Anyway, I enjoyed all the new features, especially templates, cursors, and the new pixel pulses. I think I barely managed to test half the new stuff in the few hours I participated. :D

    Edit: Canvas_final_v2.png

There is indeed some stuff missing in the OP picture, see e.g. the void eyes below the pirate.

    Edit 2: Fixed, thanks!

I liked that it didn’t feel like there were many (any?) bots, and artwork was moved instead of being erased. Congrats to a smoothly running event, and thanks to all who played.

This year was amazing again. I had fun pixeling our Furry corner and helping our friendly neighbors :) Some great art was created by everyone, I like the endresult.
Thank you for hosting this great event every year, we truly appreciate it.

And to the vandals from programming.dev and co: WHY?!

Was also the first time I’ve participated and I loved it. Thanks for hosting, the end result looks fantastic! Great job everyone on all the detail work the second day. My favourite details has to be New Zealand leaking down half the canvas.

This event was the most fun I’ve had in a while! I appreciate how respectful most contributors were of others’ artwork. It felt good to both contribute to others’ projects, and to see others contributing to things I started. It came out amazing! Looking forward to the next event!

    This was super fun again!

Thanks to everyone who participated on the Home Arcade on the right side of the canvas! When I woke up on Sunday to see it completed, it felt like a miracle!

Thank you for all your work. The last years I thought you must be one of the graybearded fediwizards, judging by how well this event is run. But after watching your Fireside Fedi episode, I have to say it’s nice to see that young people are building awesome stuff for the fediverse.

Thanks to everyone for your colorful pixels, participating in cursor dances and the minimal use of country flags. This was a lot of fun.
