I’m not as anti-AI as the rest of this place but I am 100% in favor of being honest about it.
I found a mod passing off AI generated images as authentic, vintage sci-fi covers. I asked why they were mixing them together and was not only banned but they deleted my comment.

AI has a place but the majority do not know how to use to correctly. Their ignorance is the problem hence they are a problem. :/
Personally, AI slop posters get a tag instead of a block from me so that I can downvote/comment whenever I come across their content.
I quickly got banned for just downvoting the ones I saw come up in my feed.

AI being allowed is one thing. If a community wants to allow it then that’s their business, I don’t care.
AI being unlabeled is quite another and misleading at best. Again, a community may choose to not have this requirement, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s misleading.
I do think that unlabeled AI on a federated platform is a little irresponsible, even though the community embraces it. It’s not about the rules, it’s about whether viewers - many of whom won’t be subscribers to the community - are misled into thinking the publications are real.
