That’s what they hate and fear the most: an informed population. They also fear losing their most loyal racists, misogynists, homophobes, etc., because even those demons cannot afford their treats anymore. Cannot afford healthcare, gas, a house, a happy family of at least 1 or 2 children, not even their favorite videogames or favorite food like they used to anymore.
Just don’t underestimate the passion and anger people feel especially at the fact a future of having a family, children, or at least a partner with whom you can live your youngest and most energetic years in a private home where you can do whatever you want, like having sex all day, all night, and then eat some hot dogs while gaming or watching a movie together, has been taken away from them in the name of profit. So that some rich greedy assholes with arrested development and a severe lack of empathy can have a disproportionate amount of fun while you do extra hours in your desk job for a pizza and beer or a few extra hundred bucks that don’t really reflect your real value.
