I don’t peruse Lemmy outside of Beehaw, so I don’t know enough about the instance to comment on it. (That said, I’ll take your word for it, considering users from there have attacked me for absurd reasons before.)

You’re right that some people signed up for ML simply because it’s the flagship instance and they didn’t know it’s run by tankies.
