The gotcha here is that all they will do is make sure you’re not actively dying. If you’re well enough to make survive till the next weekday you’re getting a referral and told to GTFO of the ER.
Yep, if you’re broke, but really sick, and go to the ER, they will figure out what’s wrong, put a band-aid on it, and kick you out.
If they determine you have cancer, and it is treatable, or you will die, they will tell you that you have cancer, treat whatever the current symptom is, and kick you out. They will NOT treat your cancer, and you will die.
If you need a transplant, they will tell you that, but they will not give you a transplant.
They don’t have to do more than that, and if there’s no money on it for them, they won’t.
