It does not mean you will be granted it though, and you can remain in prison your whole life. You also remain on parole your entire life if granted. There’s no life without parole here.
In civilized countries, a “life” sentence is actually just contingent on rehabilitation.
They should probably rename it, then.

A life sentence here you become eligible for parole in 10-25 years depending on the crime. It does not mean you will be granted it though, and you can remain in prison your whole life. You also remain on parole your entire life if granted.
There’s no life without parole here.
