Grindr will host its inaugural ā€œWhite House Correspondents’ dinner Weekend Partyā€ the night before the main event, a night that has been not-so-affectionately dubbed ā€œNerd Promā€ over the years.

An invitation to the fete in Washington’s Georgetown neighborhood promises to ā€œbring together policymakers, journalists, and LGBTQ community leaders as we toast the First Amendment.ā€

ā€œGrindr represents a global community with real stakes in Washington. The issues being debated here — HIV funding, privacy and online safety, LGBTQ+ family rights — are daily life for our community,ā€ Joe Hack, Grindr’s head of global government affairs, told ITK in a statement when asked about what inspired the company to join the lineup of events tied to the correspondents’ dinner.

ā€œNobody does connections like Grindr, and WHCD weekend is the most iconic place in the country to make them. We figured it was time to host,ā€ Hack said.
