Trump has put pressure on Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, a measure that would require photo identification and proof of U.S. citizenship to vote.
Not having mail-in voting would hurt workers who either can’t take the time off or would have to suffer not having that income for the day. Add on top of that the constant barrages to polling locations, limiting the number of locations, and some people won’t even get to vote after waiting all day.
It’ll hurt everybody. My state has had mail-in only voting for decades now and we have much higher turnouts than most other states. Even if you have the day off, nobody wants to stand in line for 7 hours just to vote some piece of shit “lesser evil” into power.
Those should be used instead of USPS anyway, and it would ultimately make it so states could just switch to those and not care about the postal service. While it is more convenient to mail it and would absolutely affect turnout in some way, it’s not much more difficult to go a few blocks (or stop while going to the grocery store) and drop off your ballot. It would remove the power of this illegal order since it’s centered around the USPS not delivering ballots to election facility.
If it “works” it’ll be in being applied selectively. They can not apply it in red zip codes and apply it in blue ones, aided by whatever voter database Republicans build. Say some sort of grandfather clause where certain types of existing voters (like those whose grandfathers were all voters) didn’t need to reapply.
I don’t think he can actually do that, but even if this works it mostly hurts older voters. He’s eating the chess pieces again.
Blacks vote by mail a lot.
He can make any Executive Order he wants, no states have to follow it though.

Yes it will, but statistically it would hurt older voters the most. 40% of voters 65 and older vote this way.
I’m not saying this is a good thing, I’m just pointing out that this won’t help him as much as he thinks.

Does your state have dropboxes?
Yes typically at businesses like grocery stores or county facilities.
We have them at libraries where I live.

You can use ballot dropboxes instead with little effort. That’s what you should do anyway.
