Reddit apparently banned Paul McCartney's account after he posted Fonda Theatre concert content to his own subreddit. The ban page is live and confirmed.

Paul McCartney’s official Reddit account seems to have been banned. The account, u/paulmccartney, had just dropped a set of photos and videos from the first night of his shows at the Fonda Theatre. It went straight into the r/PaulMcCartney subreddit. Then, not long after, the whole thing disappeared.

    Reddit will ban you for even the mildest of takes. Their AI admin is draconian in metering out bans. The platform seems to really want to get rid of all of the pesky humans still there and just be a safe space for bots.

      I honestly don’t know how anyone stays on Reddit very long. They permaban people for ANYTHING these days. They abdicated their site to psychopathic, power-tripping mods.

      Just for context, Ghislane Maxwell was a Reddit mod.

        It’s not even worth lurking there. Every post is just five “original” comments, and then everything below those are people repeating the same five comments a hundred times.

        And their bans really stick. If you piss them off enough, they connect every account you’ve ever had, somehow, and the ones they miss, if you log in it’s a matter of days before they catch on.

        It’s kind of impressive, actually.

          I know. When I got permabanned after 12 years and a million Karma, I started using a new account, and lasted about 3 months. After that, they tracked me down faster and faster. The last one permabanned me in minutes before I could post my first message. They got my number now, and it’s probably gotten even tighter with AI.

            17 years, maybe 50 accounts, 1 major sub, tons of minor ones, sone of which I miss, fukn every time. You get psychotically drunk ONE TIME… And what do you get? Like we helped make that place for better or for worse.

      I was joking with a commenter, they said something like “oh, my mistake. Please don’t kill me” and I replied “haha too late, I’m already coming at you with scissors!” and I got a suspension for threatening someone.

      Weird how my reddit use went down by 99% after that. I still have the account, I keep thinking maybe I’ll need it to ask a question or something… Probably wont. Might as well go delete it now lol

        Yeah I miss asking super niche questions on certain subs, because there’s usually enough users to have a prompt reply.

        But fediverse is growing, slowly. Sadly best way to keep growing it is to stay and promote it on Reddit, everyone who’s fed up for the same reasons we are are ripe for the plucking.

        Comes with a bunch of idiots, of course, myself included so YMMV.

      I got a site wide ban and all my alts were banned at the same time because I called someone who was shitting on Trans people “a disgusting piece of human garbage”. Apparently that was inciting hatred or violence and I can no longer make an account without it being banned within an hour or two.

        To be fair if you mention trans at all you’re probably getting banned and get your name on a list.
