Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the war in Ukraine has developed into a high-tech conflict.
Swarms of spy and killer drones have set the skies of Ukraine abuzz, and uncrewed boats have crippled the Russian navy in the Black Sea.
There have been reports of UGVs successfully repelling Russian attacks and even taking enemy soldiers prisoner.
Ukrainian and Russian killer robots are even said to have clashed without humans being present at the site of the battle.
One way in which the brigade has been using these robots is by mounting Kalashnikov machine guns on top.
His battalion has also been using explosive-laden, battery-powered kamikaze UGVs to blow up enemy positions and hideouts.
It’s interesting that they always show the one that have a Machine gun mounted on them.
But as with quadcopter drones, they built all sorts of land vehicles to do supply mission, or so.e made to rescue downed UAVs etc…
There was a youtube video of the drone crew running night resupply mission bringing food, drinks and all sort of things to the soldiers on the front. Using huge multi rotor.
Yeah I would think they’d be more useful for indirect tasks also, like supply logistics and sweeping for mines and tripewires.
Also the ground vehicle pictured has a mounted repeating grenade launcher, rather than a machine gun.
For anyone rushing to “It’s Terminator 1!” panic, these are all human-controlled. It’s the land version of a predator drone, and Russia has them as well.
world of tank was just the tutorial for this.
Just wanna remind everyone that back in Nov 2025 an injured soldier was rescued by a ground drone after spending 33 days behind enemy lines.
If only wars could be fought between these, leaving humans out of it.
I’d still prefer gladiatorial flights to the death between politicians.
Then Khamenei would be US president now. I’m not sure if that would be an improvement. But it would have been fun to watch.
“Death to…
…um, hang on a minute”
Edit: KhameniThey had the right spelling … no correction required.
Whoops! I’m not going to edit my edit but I’m missing an e.
Well it’s spelled خامنهای so unless he’s specified an English spelling it’s a bit flexible.
The US SUV-style aggressive-looking headlight ports are a nice touch.
Rules of engagement should be Battlebots only. No projectiles.
Just for the record, kamikaze UGV were used already in WWII.
Those were kamikaze UGV back then. But these are the mobile turrets UGV. They will not try to kill you by certainly destroying themselves. They will try to kill you and remain functional for as long as possible so that they can kill even more. I think that this is an improvement overall.
I know, I was commenting only on the last paragraph of the writeup.
