I heard the term social lubricant in tharipy and had never heard of that phenomenon having an actual word for it before and googled it, thought it was interesting so I posted to Lemmy.

also I didn’t think about it in the moment but that wikipedia article is indeed absolutely shit. I guess nobody with a special interest in the social lubrication field has come along to improve it like other pages 🤷‍♀️
