But even if it’s true, if a drug works as well as placebo then we usually conclude that it doesn’t work. Also, people who know that someone else is praying for them actually have worse outcomes according to one of the most comprehensive studies ever done on this.
It doesn’t ever work. It just occasionally coincides with reality.
And when you’re in a life and death situation, those odds are good enough.
