    There is - the electric rail. It can only be used with rail transportation, but allows to transfer power without any overhead cables.

    As per buses, the only thing one can imagine is wireless power transfer from under the road, but that comes with an extreme power loss.

      Electrified rails are incredibly dangerous for trams as people are expected to walk on the rails while crossing roads, that’s why everyone uses pantograph wires

        I kind of assumed they were engineered in a way that doesn’t allow people to accidentally close the circuit. The more I know!
