Unclear as of now if this is a local AI or their serverside AI scanning the photos.

How the fuck does Microsoft or its shitty CoPilot AI know how I want my photos organised? Why are they wasting resources on this?

This kind of crap is why I self host Immich

Yup. It stops on my machine & my photos are organised how I want them organised. Immich is privacy respecting & the learning is performing an actual useful task in facial recognition & I believe contextual search.

I dont trust Microsoft to do either & I’d certainly not want them organising anything.

Microsoft can’t even organise a settings menu or a toolbar. I don’t fancy seeing private photos getting spat out of their image generating LLM in 3 years time

Even if this was local and privacy friendly, I don’t know anyone within my circle who stores their photos on their desktops or laptops anymore. I use Immich and most people I know use Google Photos or iCloud — basically mobile devices.

Adding this feature just adds to the bloat and its Microsoft — you can’t trust them.
