Being at the midpoint between center right and far right makes you right wing.

    They aren’t really centrists.

They just don’t want the blame or accountability.

Centrists are people who hear “both sides”, and then do a mental shortcut instead of being informed

I had to explain to my friend the other day how ICE works. He heard one side say they’re going after criminals, the other side said they’re going after illegal immigrants, and so his interpretation was that innocent people are getting wrapped up as they go after criminals

Which is obviously not the case, because who goes after criminals? The fucking police. Obviously. Then when the police are done with someone without citizenship, they ask ICE if they want them

That made him think, and he realized his position didn’t make any sense. He knew he was being lied to and tried to adjust for that, but there’s no underlying truth to be found.

And they’re mostly like that. Lots of people talk about needing to balance the far left and the far right to bring people together. When I drill people on what it means, who’s in the far left, they don’t know. Because there is no far left

Centrists aren’t usually bad people, they’re people bad at information gathering. It’s why it’s so unforgivable for Democrats to be so weak and adopt the framing of Republicans… They confirm the lies by giving ground

What’s the saying? Some people are more concerned with order than justice?

I’d see that a lot with my old coworkers. They’d rather just not talk about something than be mildly uncomfortable.

Yeah, fucking shrill alarmists calling people Nazis just because they’re Sig heiling while covered in swastika tattoos and shouting about “blood and soil” and “the master race”. Fuck, by that metric, who isn’t a Nazi?

God. Touching grass is the most miserable thing, because you realize the people out there really legitimately don’t give a shit about living under a fascist regime. Even if it makes their life worse.

“Well, I don’t know that it would’ve been any better if Harris had won. Who can say? The Dems are just in it for themselves too, you know.”

The conservatives are even more repugnant, though, pretending to not remember being against the idea of OBAMA implementing MARTIAL LAW on ALL MAJOR US CITIES a decade ago, when that was the conspiracy theory du jour.

Ah, yeah I figured it was probably that whole thing. Mullenweg’s a complete POS but in terms of all the major social media sites right now, I’d still say Tumblr’s on the better side of things. The team that actually runs Tumble seems to be pretty cool compared to Automattic itself

Oh, I promise I’m not trying to sell you on anything. I don’t use Tumblr and I’m happy here as well. I only bring it up because the Tumblr userbase has done a lot of good in terms of social progressiveness, so writing it off as a transphobic site in the same way as Twitter/X just seems off to me.

Don’t confuse progressive praxis with silos. It is precisely my disappointment that they are in a silo posting this critique than in freer platforms where progressive actions are made.
