U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday he again told some unnamed Canadian official that the country should consider joining the U.S. as the 51st state — returning to the annexationist rhetoric he used earlier in the year and subsequently dialled back after Prime Minister Mark Carney was elected.
New Englander here, can we go too? Joining New Brunswick would be ideal but we’ll join Quebec if we have to (though I doubt the Quebecoise would have us).
It’s fine to take this opportunity for to review the governance and structure, but I think you should look at Prince Edward Island. This province has about 150k people. And there are 4 other provinces with under 1 million people (going by the 2021 numbers).

I think all of New England could be a province. These days, there’s not much point in being such small states.
