Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered a heated response to the news that the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia had officially recognized the state of Palestine.

“I have a clear message to those leaders who recognize a Palestinian state after the terrible massacre on October 7: you are giving a huge reward to terrorism,” Netanyahu said in a statement. “And I have another message for you: it will not happen. A Palestinian state will not be established west of the Jordan River.”

He’s been saying it in English for decades, publicly for over two years, and everyone still pretending like a two state solution is anything.

None of us are free until Palestine is free, from the river to the sea.

We need to be a bit careful with “from the river to the sea” as to many in Israel, that is a call for Israel’s destruction.

It’s not Israel or Palestine that can exist. We want them both to exist, in peace. Angry at Israel’s genocide though we all are, few are calling for Israel to cease to exist. That’s what Israel is doing to Palestine.

Germany existed before and after the Nazis. Israel wasn’t always ruled by extremists and should be there when they are gone.

It’s a shame Palestine and Israel are divided by religion, but as an atheist, maybe I’m not going to get it.

nazi germany” does not exist anymore and is a different country from “Germany” (notice the lack of nazi in the name). israel was founded by terrorists and has always been ruled by extremists who wanted to create lebensraum for their genocidal ethnostate utopia. Palestine and israel are not divided by religion. Jews, Christians, and Muslims lived together in Palestine long before the bloody concept of israel was conceived.

A single state solution would be lovely, but after Germany, you can see why Jews want a country of their own. However, none of that gives an excuse to take more land from neighbors. Let alone doing their own ethnic cleansing in that land.

I agree that, on a surface level, the justification seems reasonable, but it falls flat in the face of reality. The existence of israel actually makes it less safe for Jews around the world because the horrific actions of israel are incorrectly conflated as being the will of all Jews. Additionally, it’s a terrible idea to concentrate as many Jews as possible into a single small country. That only makes them more vulnerable. With how many enemies the israelis are making through their actions, the second they don’t have the backing of the most powerful military in the world, they’re open to attack. They’re relying on always being defended no matter what they do and they use it as a license to carry out the most horrific acts, including genocide. It’s not sustainable and it should not be excused or tolerated.
