Pro tip: water before you dig. Water the ground for a week or so before you dig, this makes it much easier to dig through, and cuts down on the excess dust.
In the Midwest where it looks like you dug that hole, sure. But where I and the previous poster live, nope. Lots of sand in the soil out here, and if you dig deep enough, you hit granite.

Once you get deep enough there is literally no dust as it contains about 30% clay and is very wet
