At this point, you’re fucked, might as well arm yourself. Rather go out like that then be tortured in a foreign prison.

This, or republican representatives growing a spine/conscience, are the only ways this stops.

The first of those is a non-starter, so what I’m saying is, this is the ONLY way this stops.

I’m Canadian who hates guns, and my wife is Bolivian. We live in rural Saskatchewan, but in light of “51st state” talk we have have purchased firearms and hit the gun range a few times in the last couple months. Do we think the two of us can stop the US military, should it come to that? Of course not. Have we had the conversation about what we would do and what we’re willing to sacrifice together for our country? Goddamn right we have. We have a pretty good life and are fairly well off- but we’re both absolutely fine going out together and taking out as many MAGA shitheads out as we can, if needed. If we had young kids the calculus would maybe be a bit different- but we don’t, and it isn’t.

All this to say, if we lived in the US, we would absolutely be armed to the teeth.

I know I mentioned reacting with violence, but I’m at a crossroads. I’m in a red state. Do we put our heads down and wait for an organized resistance? Do we go blasting? Thing with violence is, it affects more than the intended people. If I were to actually fight against the forces that be, they would also go after my family. Everyone around me seems to think guns and blasting away…but violence definitely has a consequence.

I’m also drunk rn and don’t know what else can calm my nerves for this timeline. The only thing that brings me hope is being a community organizer and seeing the hope in peoples faces. I’m doing the most I can in a non-violent way. I’m scared when I have to make that decision to change the course.

Do you believe that because the disappeared people didn’t fight back their families are safe?

What don’t understand is- if the US “left” is so committed to non-violence, why have we not seen a tech-rebellion? Why is there no cyber-“terrorism” or white hat hackers fighting this shit? Democrats have spent the last four decades loudly and proudly insisting that they’re smarter than the ignorant conservatives- so why aren’t they hard at work at outsmarting them?

Without that last resort, violence is going to have to be what it comes down to.

Totally understand, but violence dose have consequences to those you love. That’s why I’m at a crossroads.
