To be honest, Canada partly has itself to blame. They let Russia interfere in US elections for a decade at this point but didn’t lift a finger to interfere for the other side that respects them. That attitude needs to end.

It’s interesting that no one in the media talks about how Fetterman was one of the most progressive politicians, then he had a stroke and started taking the maga side on a lot of things.

It tracks with a lot of other anecdotal evidence (e.g. Tila Tequila becoming a nazi after an aneurysm, some lady in a recent Channel 5 video said she became pro-Trump following a head injury in a car accident, a couple of people in my personal life, RFK Jr. obviously). I’m not saying all magas are brain damaged - there’s many different reasons I’m sure. But someone’s gotta at least start asking the question. There is at least this study which ties brain damage to religious fundamentalism, which isn’t exactly politics but it’s pretty darn close.

Remember that the right wing media rushed to blame this on speeding and intoxication without mentioning that they were still alive and able to move when the vehicle was on fire. You can’t just blame a group of people for anything though, it’s not like geographic boundaries determine morality.

Instead you gotta look at what happened this last election. Yeah there was inflation, and the polls point to that as a thing that swayed a lot of people. But the bigger factor was media capture by far-right oligarchs. The top cable news station, the top podcast, and the top social media network for news were all turned into maga propaganda this election. In that environment, the only question is why was it so close?

And unfortunately, until that changes the next elections are going to be the same. Trump’s approval is down, but it’s still higher than it was at this point his last term.

Did rioting work for George Floyd? Every single police reform bill was killed when Fox News exploited the riots to portray the whole police reform movement as crazy.

Rioting just injures a couple of working class cops, gets yourself arrested, and plays into their hands. If you want the ruling oligarchs to fear you, don’t riot. Harm the economy. Boycott. General strike. Make the line go down.
