I was listening to an episode of Behind the Bastards about the slave labor used by Volkswagen in the 1970s and 1980s and this fact came up. Here’s the relevant Wiki:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery_in_Brazil

Excerpt:

Out of the 12 million Africans who were forcibly brought to the New World, approximately 5.5 million were brought to Brazil between 1540 and the 1860s.

The point is that hollywood isn’t making films that deny or refute slavery in Brazil, which was the original claim.

How the fuck do you know that? You said that you hadn’t seen them, I am pretty god damned sure that there are films that do exactly that and more.

The point is that Hollywood makes film that imply a lot of shit over a very broad spectrum, you can try and move the goal posts all you want, but there is zero refuting that Hollywood is a propaganda machine that will serve its masters the USAF and by extension its government, and whatever phalanx of industrial sycophants propping it up.

      Get a grip.

        1. Films that no-one has seen aren’t going to be influencing peoples knowledge. I notice you haven’t named any either. For more information please see: Burdan of Proof
        2. This discussion is about jol’s claim that hollywood is responsible for covering up slavery in Brazil. Those are the goalposts. The fact that hollywood collaborates with the US military to promote their interests is only relevant if you can show a link to slavery in Brazil.

Look, honestly, I have no clue what we’re really arguing, so I’m willing to concede your point.

However: “Burdan of proof”? Burdan? I barely know’em! XD
