Classic Reddit: “Reddit is meant to be a bastion of free speech”
2024 Reddit: “All hail corporate! Click on more ads!”
For someone that claims to be so data-driven, I’d be curious what data he is looking at here when he calls it a lie. I will say that it is factual that the US spends a lot of money on homelessness and we still have homelessness, but the existence of homelessness is not something I would call a lie.
The same thing people did this time – vote Republican or stay home. I think the outcome of the latest election makes it clear how ineffective the democrats are. By a lot of metrics, Donald Trump was not that successful of a presidency, and despite that, the democrats were not able to field anyone that could defeat him.
What question? I didn’t have time to read the comment.
These technically ARE UAP. They are just not extraterrestrial in origin.
This is super clickbait. What’s Trump’s actual quote?
I’d like to bring them down. It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up. You know, it’s very hard. But I think that they will.
That doesn’t scream “backtracks on promise to me”. Actually, if anything, he’s saying that he’d still like to do it and he thinks they will. I mean, the other thing is he hasn’t even taken over, so we can’t really say he’s failed at anything. Look, I don’t like the guy very much either, but let’s save our outrage when he’s actually fucked up. Headlines like this is when some lazy editor just needs to crank a story out there.
If I asked someone if they like ice cream and they say “I’d like to get it. It’s hard not to have it, but I think I will”, the headline shouldn’t be “LOCAL MAN HATES ICE CREAM”. Fuck off lazy journalists and wake me up when something actually happens.
What change was accomplished by OccupyWallstreet?
They were angry about economic inequality – it’s worse today than in 2011.
They wanted an end to corporate personhood – still totally cookin’ in 2024 with no end in sight
More regulation of the financial sector – we are more deregulated than ever today
I had to admire their aims, but as a movement it was profoundly ineffective…
Sorry, I would not prefer an unethical, unconstitutional, unloving candidate to win. Actually, I think that’s exactly what we did get.
Arguably the “will of the people” was exercised through them supporting the Democratic party. The Democratic party put forth a new candidate in accordance with their own guidelines, which were in place prior to 2024. This was no coup, it was the Democratic party putting forth a candidate as they may. This is not new. They can put forth anyone they wish.
Kamala was put into place by receiving the most votes during a virtual roll call: https://ballotpedia.org/Democratic_delegate_rules%2C_2024
If one supports the Democratic party, surely one would sanction the process by which Kamala became the presidential candidate, as they were acting in accordance of their own party guidelines, which were in place long before this election. If a president would have withdrew prior to Biden, the exact same process would have taken place. A similar action took place in 1972 when VP nominee Thomas Eagleton withdrew. None of this is new.
There was nothing wrong with Harris except seven million people who voted for Biden weren’t ready for her to become president.
I didn’t enjoy what she did as district attorney. I would also argue if she was not electable in 2024, then she doesn’t meet the bar of a “good candidate”. Now her viability is irrelevant entirely, unless she plans to run in 2028.
Those aren’t my idea of good candidates either. My idea of a good candidate would be someone ethical, that wants to improve life for our citizens, that values constitutional values and the rule of law. I am not sure such a person exists in the US that is capable of winning the presidency.
In your picture above, just because a few morons vote for silly reasons doesn’t invalidate the value of having actual good representation.
“light pollution surveying” or “generic scientific study”.
The problem with those excuses is they’d have to ‘own’ the drones, and clearly, they want to avoid that at this point. They are just trying to make it very boring until these drones drop out of the news cycle and America’s mad about something else for a week or two.
“Two more weeks”
I wish there was a prediction market about this outcome, as I would gladly bet against it. I don’t see America suddenly growing a spine. As long as there is (fast) food available and the electricity and football games are flowing, 99.999% aren’t picking up that pistol.
That said, if that was the case why don’t they pull out something akin to the tried and true “just weather balloons” excuse?
Easy, because government excuses need a veneer of belivability. Clearly, weather balloons don’t move like these objects (who, as far as I am aware, EVERYONE is calling drones), so that can’t be the excuse.
If the democrats are so sick of getting swapped out maybe they should field some decent candidates.
Sure, to think the Air Force / Army etc would tolerate such a blatant violation of their airspace with NO RESPONSE is crazy. It’s not like they have to fly 5000 miles like you said. They are literally right there. If America was really this powerless against drones in our airspace, then Iran, etc. would be dropping grenades on our power stations in 2 seconds. We’d be totally owned. This is VERY CLEARLY either the government themselves, or something done with the government’s agreement.
Another point – if these drones are so secret and spooky, why are many of them flying with FAA compliant safety lights? Iran / aliens worried about mid-air collisions? Awfully nice of them!
One was head of state, the other is some CEO that was replaced by another one in the lineup before the day was even over.
Who’s waking up? We’re already seeing the end of this news cycle. People are pre-occupied with the stupid drones in NJ and losing interest over this. I would nearly guarantee we see no long-term changes to our health care system. The public operates in 2 week outrages. It would take a longer attention span to actually fix something. Someone’d have to dismantle the corrupt lobbying system in DC. Reminder: this year ALONE companies spend more than $130 million on lobbying in DC. The politicians don’t work for us, the people, they work for the health companies and their lobbyists. This is business as usual.
This is so much bullshit:
Yeah, fucking sure. Here’s what happened under his watch:
This is just lip service by the new boss. They could drop their rates, have more transparent claims process or any one of a hundred moves that THEY could initiate and would not require new legislation. Guess what, since that gets in the way of profit, they won’t bother. People are already getting bored of this news cycle. In another week everyone will be talking about something else and UHC will still be raking in profits taken from the wallets of cancer patients.
Actions speak louder than words and I don’t see any actions here!
