I saw a clip of the performance… It was a really bad lip sync. As in he kept pulling the mic away from his head well before the lyrics were over. I’d heard the controversy and was like, I’m sure it wasn’t that obvious he was lip syncing, and was floored when I saw the actual performance.

Especially because they’re trying to emulate the samurai dialect. It’s inaccurate, but deserves points for trying!

My understanding is that they used to be a fire hazard a few decades ago, but have improved significantly in safety since. Plus you don’t have to sleep with it on; using it to warm up the sheets before you crawl into bed is often sufficient, depending on your climate. Or you can use it elsewhere in the house, such as on the couch or a reading chair.

YMMV, but the cheap one I bought only lasted two winters before the electric part died, while the more expensive two I bought have lasted five years and counting.

Plus the clickbait videos are almost always disappointing (“I tuned in for 90 seconds for something that could have been summed up in a sentence and ended up being a total dud anyway!?”).
